Finding Light In Everyday Life When It Feels Like a Grind
With all our responsibilities and routines life at times can feel like a grind or that it has lost its spark. When we begin to notice the Divine in everyday life we will see things with new eyes.
The sacred is all around us, infused in everyday moments. But we've stopped noticing. We often trudge through to-do lists while we hustle, oblivious to the beauty and blessings that surround us. What are some ways to start noticing them?
Open your eyes again to the beauty in nature. When was the last time you stopped to witness the sunset cast pinks and purples across the sky?
Catch that random act of kindness. You will begin to see what you are looking for - the cashier patiently assisting a customer in need. Holy moments happen every day, look for them.
Shift from cynical to grateful. Make a list of people and things you're thankful for. Health, satisfying relationships, and faith are some of our greatest gifts - don’t take them for granted. Savor your morning coffee, laugh with friends, and enjoy deep restful sleep. When we bring gratitude to the life that we have, we awaken to delight.
Faith eases fear. Carve out meditative space - light a candle, listen to peaceful music, spend time in nature. Getting grounded and present anchors you. Trust in a design greater than your limited vision can perceive.
Ordinary moments shimmer again when we see them as sacred. The spiritual is not somewhere far off - it's woven into the fabric of daily living, familiar and near. We need only open our eyes to notice and give thanks.
