Let It Flow
Using the metaphor of fountains in a valley of the Colorado Rockies, Holmes discusses our relationship to Spirit.
Beneath these fountains there is one source of water that flow through them all. The fountains do not need to make the water flow through them. Each of us a fountains of Life, back of each of us there is a Divine Source that flows through us, and it is through our thoughts and actions that Life is made known.
Each fountain as a rock formation, has its own shape, directing the flow of water through them. We are each unique individuals, with our own “thoughts, feelings, hopes, aspirations and desires” that either allows or restricts the flow of Life to express in and through us.
How we restrict Its flow are by blocks in our own thinking that create the experience of blockage or stagnation in our life. Some examples of rocks (or blocks) in our thinking:
Thoughts of “not enough” supply (lack/scarcity consciousness) of any life-affirming need;
thoughts of “confusion and uncertainty”, when we are keeping ourself in a state where we say we don’t know to do what we know we need to do and claim that we are lacking the power and ability;
thoughts fear and anxiety, this is where we give our attention to what is unwanted and imagine “worst-case” situations where there is loss, lack, or delay. This use of our mind where we imagine we are powerless, creates in us a sense of powerlessness and vulnerability that demands that we either attack or defend ourselves.
thoughts of jealousy or envy, we are fearful that what is ours is being taken from us by another, or they have what we believe we are lacking and we wish that it was ours instead
The spring below the earth is not withholding itself from the fountains and Spirit is not withholding from us. Any block to the flow is not in Source itself - its in the channel of the fountain, it is in the use of our minds.
These “blocks” in our thinking inhibit our experience of Divine Flow. We can clear the blocks by developing our faith, conviction and hope.
A primary area for us to develop our faith and conviction is in knowing that God is in us now, and is Self-Acting. Each of us wants to live in in the flow of Good and we do, but because of our misperception that we are “blocked or lacking,” we try to fix what isn’t broken. We are “trying” to be something we are not. Yoda said, “Don’t try, do.” We breathe instead of trying to breath. We drink water rather than trying to drink. We are already Whole and trying to be an inlet and outlet of Good when assumes that we are not. It is the to the degree of our misperception, that we experience blockage and stagnation. As Holmes writes,* “Life operates at the level of our concept of It.”*
To live out loud, by letting God do it - live in, through and as us, we must get out of our own way. Clearing “our mind of doubt, live at though love were the great reality,” we can be blessed and a blessing and accept our birthright as children of God of Divine Substance and Supply.
